need opinions fast!!!!!!!

My burban over heated last night and now doesnt have any oil preasure...did I just cook the oil or did I mess some thing up?....ideas?

Mr_Shamrock Feb 2, 2011 07:49 PM

Is the motor knocking? Is there oil in the water, water in the oil, oil or water leaking outside the block somewhere? You may have blown a head gasket.

chrisbmo2000 Feb 2, 2011 10:11 PM

nah no cross contamination.....it is knocking but thats cause it has no oil pressure.......runs great.....and starts right up...any other ideas?

RUFFNECK4LYFE Feb 3, 2011 01:42 AM

Im thinkin the oil pump is the problem. A sudden drop in pressure I would think is the pump went bad. Maybe thats why it overheated cuz it was on its way out?

chrisbmo2000 Feb 3, 2011 02:31 AM

maybe but the pump is just at a year old.....not sure but Im really worried.

donberry Feb 3, 2011 10:31 AM

#1 is to stop running it obviously.
Why did it overheat ? Thermostat or broken hose etc or was it because the water was frozen ? I know Missouri has been pretty cold, so if it was because the water was frozen (not enough antifreeze), I am going to say there is a really good chance you cracked the block, a head etc.....

chrisbmo2000 Feb 3, 2011 01:00 PM

it over heated cause I was stupid and got it stuck......and trying to get out I over heated it.......then once it cooled down it had little oil pressure and still has very little.....it doesnt act like a cracked block or head (runs too good) no oil in the cooling system and no coolant in the oil.........hoping I just cooked the oil and it has no viscosity any more

Hey chris did you install that pump last year?

chrisbmo2000 Feb 3, 2011 10:52 PM

yes i did...it was brand new

RUFFNECK4LYFE Feb 3, 2011 11:50 PM

Ive heard some horror stories bout installing pumps. I think 3 things... A) its cavitating from the tube dropped down too low B) its suckin in air where the tube goes in the pump(i usually put silicone there to prevent this) C) its a bad pump. Only way to be sure is to carefully take it apart and see. Sorry bout ur bad luck Chris.
