Default Need size of bolt . . .

Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I have a 1991 C2500 Silverado X-cab 2-wheel drive.

I'm trying to pull the steering wheel . . . What size bolt do I need (to use with the puller) to pull the steering wheel off.?
It has a tilt collum and the locking mechanism, (for the tilt) is does not lock the wheel solid anymore.
I.ve tried 5/16-18 & 24, 7mmx1, 8mmx1.25 and everything in between. Is this some bastard thread, that some poor slob in a think-tank came up with?

Thanks for any help, Steve

Steve,
Should be 5/16 or 8mm unless someone stripped out the holes.
I just use standard bolts, nothing special. Haven't had one of in a while so I don't recall if it is SAE or Metric.
