needs help please....
i have a 98 silv. 5.7 vor. newly rebuilt motor, starter-brand new, fuel pressure is at 60-65 psi, it wont stay started on its own, pour gas directly to the throttle body and runs, as it runs out of gas it dies, me and my dad are out of options and lost, PLEASE HELP.

Where are you checking the fuel pressure at? Has it run since the rebuild? Check oil pressure sender and crank sensor, both will cause a no start condition.
shradder valve, it has not ran were just putting it in a wk ago..
Ok then I would make sure the oil pressure sensor and crank sensor are both good and plugged in. They are both in the fuel circuit.
ok will check, if thats not it ill be back on... wish me luck :)
still wont start on its own, everything checks out, so were gonna check the fuel injectors, got any easy cheap ideas on how to do that???
Unfortuantely they are under the intake so that would need to come off (at least the upper plastic one). They are known to fail, but it usually wont creat a no start issue. Unless they aren't getting power. Check the big plug that goes to them to make sure none of the pins are bent over. Did you take it off as a complete assembly when doing the motor rebuild? The fuel pressure regulator is under there to - so check it as well. It is more likely to cause a complete no start vs. the injectors.
Question - how did you test the crank sensor and oil pressure senser? |
we actually replaced the fuel pressure regulator yesterday praying it wasnt the injectors... but still no start, checked the sensors with an ohem meter... no they were not pulled off as a complete assembly, the truck did sit for 3 yrs so the injectors could be plugged, thats whats being checked on now, if none of this works idk what to do next, weve done nearly eveything, double checked...
Oh yeah if it sat for 3 years you probably need a new spider injection assembly.
would letting them soak possibly break loose all the stuff and be good to go???
