NERF BARS NOISE!
 

About three weeks ago i put nerf bars on my truck, it makes the truck crack every rut it hits and every turn i take! it is driving me crazy, i brought it back to the dealer and they said the guy forgot to put spacers, he said he did, so now i'm stuck with this noisy bed mess!! i am almost at the point where i want to just take them off, but it is so hard to get in the truck with out them!! Please help!!

Maybe get some rubber mat or gasket material, make a thin rubber cushion between the bars and the truck so it won't rub. It sounds like it is grinding metal to metal or something like that.

Thanks, i will try that this afternoon. where should i get that from? Sorry for the bother, im a female, don't know much about things like that, just had to have that Silverado when i saw it!!

Any auto parts place should have it. Advance Auto, Auto Zone, maybe even Walmart. The nerf bars have to be pulled off to put the "cushion" in there.

Umm if I am reading the post correctly why don't you just take it back to the dealer and make them fix it right. If they installed them they are obligated to make it right.

i did that, because i really thought that it was something wrong with the truck itself, but the service person said the nerf bars caused the problems, so i brought it back the the guys that put it on told them that the dealer said they forgot to put the spacers, of course they said that they put all the parts that came with the nerf bars.i went to auto zone and got these rubber things and i will have my boyfriend bring it back to those guys to put those so that the metal to metal will stop hitting together. hopefully that works! you really do get what you pay for, they only chargedme 30 to put them on, others wanted to charge me bt 55 - 80!! went the cheaper route of course, and now i am about to pull my hair out!!

Make sure of something...

where the bolt goes thru the bracket and into the truck...if that bracket is "touching" the frame,it will "pop"...loosen them and re-position the bracket so it has clearance

Hey there..its neither of those two things..lol..I went thru this last week :)...look under the truck where the bracket ismounted to the frame, you will see metal on metal...the two end brackets are slotted..figure out which end is making the noise, mine was the front. loosen the bolt ..pull in on the bar just a little and retighten...walahhhh noise gone :)

ooops..had I read all the repiles before posting, I would have seen the guy before me hit it on the head ..lol..[:o]

Glad its healed...yes,they make awful noises if they touch
