new brakes

Hey guys, i have a 2000 silverado 2wd with the 5.3...i'm looking to get some better performance out of my brakes. i'm looking to spend no more than 1k, but i have no idea about brands, rotors or just pads, etc.. please help me out, THANKS!!!

Heres some drilled and or slotted rotors. I wouldent know where to fine calipers.

ive heard that if you just do the drilled or slotted rotors with some good pads it will really help alot!

I've heard both sides, some say it's awesome, and some say they do nothing and prematurely wear pads. Personnaly I would give it a try if I had the money, but make sure you get some really good pads that can take it.
