New guy!!
Hey everyone I just got a 01 Chevy Silverado 1500 V8. I traded it in for my pontiac g6. This is my first truck so I'll open for any advice on taking care of this truck.

I had an 01 4x4, bought it new. At 208,000 miles I put a new engine and tranny in it and at 220,000 I gave it to my son in 2004 and he still drives it.
Be aware that originally it did not, or mine didn't, have a camber adjustment for the front wheels. There was a mod kit that was put on later. The problem was the camber setting were never right and caused outside tire wear. I started doing my own camber adjustments to solve the problem. I basically set it to 0 camber. If you don't have the tire wear you are OK. Don't let an alignment shop put too much camber either + or -. Get a Chilton or Haynes manual for it. If you don't have an OBD tester that works on your truck you can jump a couple of pin on the connecter under the dash on the drivers side and get the trouble codes. |
Thanks for the heads up.
