New guy, new problem
 

New to this forum so just a little background, driven a 1988 ford f150 for past two years, but with over 300,000 miles and a 302 powered 4 speed, its time for a truck with better mpg. I bought a 1998 c1500 with 236,000 for $300 knowing it needed something in the tranny, when we got it it would not shift into first gear, manually or in od. we drove it a mile down the road to see if it would shift while feathering throttle, no response, came home turned around and boom, downshift into first, but now its stuck. Parked it removed the pan replaced shift solenoids (even though no codes were thrown), replaced filter put the pan and some new fluid into her ans shes still stuck. Any ideas? Don't have the money to have a shop rebuild, but between me and my father we have the know how for small jobs. If it is major, which years would interchange? it has the 4.3 v6 vortec and 4l60e

i believe 95-98 will interchange trans wise
as far as any other part 88-98
the reason on the trans is that they switched something around in 95 and 94 and below dont have that i cant remember what it is
i hope this helps
and did it wont shift maybe the bands in the trans are worn out does it work when its hot
have you tried shifting it under the truck with the wheels chaulked and a buddy holding down the brake
you it may be your shift selector linkage could possibly be loose
or the bands
