Hello, new guy to the forum with a few questions. I just bought a 2000 ext cab chevy auto with a 4.8l and a bed cover (low) and I have read some of the post about low cost mods to improve preformance and mileage. What 2 or 3 things would you guys recommend to do to this truck which would have the biggest effect? either low cost or bought from the aftermarket. I am mainly interested in mileage and not concerned about towing at all, however power and sound would be nice. Thanks for any help

 

Probably, a cold air intake and a dual exhaust setup. These aren't cheap, if you go somewhere for install about $800 or more.

 

cold air intake and a tbs would give you some nice gains but its a better gain when you get dual exhaust.

 

Yep CAI, TBS and a nice exhaust. I like the single in duel out style of muffler. You could get into that exhaust set up for about 250ish. A good tune of some kind would be a good option as well.
