new here.... TPS question
first off hello everyone!
i have an '03 4.8. it's been idling rough and has slowly become worse, to where it dies at take off occasionally (which is too often). i've been told that the throttle positon sensor is probably dirty. i did a little searching here and have read some advice on it, but couldn't find HOW to clean it. SEEMS like a pretty basic deal, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance! |
Might be talkin bout your MAF(mass air flow sensor). It sits right between the air filter and throttle body on the intake tube. Go to the parts store and get some mass air flow sensor cleaner. Its a spray and you just spray off the electrical resistors.

It sounds like you just need to clean the throttle body. They are known to get carboned up. You can either clean them on the truck or, if it were me, remove it and do a thorough front and back cleaning. If you don't want to go through removing it just get some throttle body cleaner, remove the air intake duct, and get it as clean as possible (you will see alot of black carbon all over the butterfly in there pay close attention to where the butterfly meets the inner wall of the throttle body. After that you should be good as new!

Welcome aboard Tumbleweed, I second and third the above advise. Good luck.
