New motor in 89 Chevy 1500
I have a 1989 chevy truck. It currently has the stock 350 5.7L V8 with TBI fuel injection. What i want to do is order a long block 350 chevy from summit. The one im looking at is 290hp and 326torque. I want to kept the TBI fuel injection. Is this possible. Does the computer need adjustments to do this. And does anything in the motor need to be changed to have a intake manifold with TBI fuel INjection. Thanks

im pretty sure your TBI intake and everything will bolt up to that motor, if so, the only thing you would need is a chip custom tuned to run that setup. also, you may want to look into getting an edelbrock tbi performer intake and a bigger TB to feed the more powerful motor as there is no way the stock tb, intake, and exhaust manifolds will produce all 290 horses. i highly recomend a set of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...Q5fAccessories i put them and a dynomax exhaust on my truck with the stock motor and the hp torque response fuel milage and overall performance was 10000% better . . . and they still look like new after a year and a half |
yes i was going to put the elderbrock preformer intake with the Holly 670 cfm TBI on that motor. Do you beleive that will be good. And yes i will have headers to. Do you think its a must to have a chip. I read somewhere about if you upgraded to a 383 i would need a chip mod..but it didnt go into detail about hp wise
