new spark plugs 2007 5.3 silverado
Auto zone is insisting I only install what the manufacturer suggest for plug replacement at $6.00 a plug. really? anyone do differently with good results

You could also cross reference that OEM spark plug with similar, compatible plugs.

a few of my co-workers hate ngk plugs in a chevy. good for Asian cars. I use oem as much a possible.
don't know for spark plugs but cheap aftermarket suspension components are junk. I went from a chevy dealer to a Canadian tire shop for a short period. The cheap line can tire parts are a waste. There is a big difference in quality, fit and installation ease from oem to this line. if your keeping this truck, spend the money for oem iridium and it will be the last time you ever have to replace them. |
Agreed with primem. I currently work at Chevy. It's claimed that the O.E spark plugs last 100K. Trust me they do, and then some as long as you don't have any issues that get ignored (See: burning oil, missfires, bad coil, etc).
ACDelco plugs are worth the coin in my opinion. Otherwise, I've put a few sets of champion double platinum in before when I worked in the aftermarket world. Can honestly say that they sparked and the engine ran ... so I don't really know what to say. Didn't seem to have an issue with them, and the other guys at the shop fixing ford triton spark plug disasters used the champion double platinum in those engines. So ... |
