No Dash Lights

I have no dash lights on guages???Makes it difficult to drive at night? What could this be and where do I begin to look?

There is a roll like switch left of the steering wheel next to the light switch. Make sure it is rolled up as far as possible, without turning the cab light on.

Truck is a 1998 Sierra Z71...Thanks for your response but I had already tried that switch/dial & nothing...If I remember correctly the dash lights & the warning buzzer for head lights left on both stopped working at the same time...I've checked the fuse box on side of dash & all looks fine...but under beside pedals there are a couple silver fuse type ??? Can anyone tell me what they would be for?? Sorry dumb female here...thanks
