No diesel guys around here????

Wow, diesels are the hot ticket for modding and towing with but yet if i do a search, there hasn't been a diesel thread going in the past year? So all you diesel guys don't be shy, what you got done to your trucks. My "new to be" used 2005 GMC duramax has a banks dual exhaust and CAI and supossedly a banks 6 gun programmer, i'll find out more when i get it next week if the previous owner gives it a good bill of health!I seensomeonesay "real trucks burn diesel and lawnmowers run on gas" lol!

RE: No diesel guys around here????

Much respect to the diesel guys (many of my friends run them), but I was born and raised with a spark plug in my hand, from dirtbikes to hot-rods... So I'll be sticking with my combustion engine for awhile (esp. with fuel prices and other costs). I seem to like my powerband better for what I do anyway, and I don't do much major towing, just hauling a$$, hahaa....
Congrats to you too, on your possible recent score!

Diesels do sound badjazz (three of my neighbors have modded Cummin's and P-chokes and I can tell when they're home!), but mine's gonna growlas soon as I get some headers on and weld up my DMH e-cutout!

Try going to youtube and just type in "dirtymax" and you'll get some good hits for some crazy vids.

I remember one of my buddies showed me a youtube of some blacked out ford powerstroke too, single cab, shorty bed, etc... and that thing RIPPED, holy smokes...

I've had both (gas and diesel) and with the right exhaust, they both sound great, but i miss the whistle of a turbo! With my wants of a lift and big tires, a diesel is the only option to keep good acceleration, towing and fuel mileage.

Do you know if they change the diesel formula for winter like they do in gasoline?? Usually around here in the winter fuel price and mileage goes down by about a quarter and about 3mpgs, but it just hit me the other day that the 3 winters we have had the 06 dmax, fuel economy has never differed from summer.

MPGS:
280 miles on truck: 16mpg
36,000 miles: 19mpg
60,000 miles: 21mpg

04 Duramax Crew cab at shop with close to 400,000 MILES!!!!!!!!!

AN ASTONISHING 24 MPG!!!!! STOCK

They do switch to a winter blend here in Wi. to prevent gelling and it does decrease mpg's by 2-3 for most people.

I don't know then, either way I ain't complaining
