No mechanical linkage
First post here -- I own an 06 -2500HD-Std. 5 sd. 10,000 mi.
I see there is an electronically controlled linkage for foot feed. Ever since I'v had this truck it has been very sensitive to shifting sync; clutch/shift/gas. Also sometimes,(most of the time) drive train noise accompanies. The shifting is not like older Chev shifting, which was more smother transitioning; clutch/shift/gas. But rather an art almost. Do you think it could be coming from not having mechanical linkage? Has anyone else experienced this? pipestone |
RE: No mechanical linkage
linkages have been gone several years now with no ill effects...i dunno why people fussed so much about the system now..they work great!

RE: No mechanical linkage
Then why is there a bunching up feel of the drive train
componets with audible sound when you go thru the gears. I have to really be in artistic form when shifting from gear to gear to make shifts without sound in the drive train. It seems like there is a in synchonization problem between clutch engagement and throttle response in what should be a harmonious transition from shift to shift. Are you saying others have had the same complaint or is this just characteristic to the new design? pipestone |
RE: No mechanical linkage
i've not noticed anything like that...any codes?

RE: No mechanical linkage
just be glad you dont have mechanical linkages that can pop off on you going down the road. i had a 74 that would loose linkage going down the road, until i fabbed something up that wouldnt come apart on me.

RE: No mechanical linkage
its odd how some customers freaked over a non-cable...I mean,a radio does not use a cable to increase volume, yet it seems pretty reliable.
