No power in the cab of '86 GMC Sierra - Please help

Hi all,
I drive a 1986 GMC Sierra 1500, V8, 2x2.
My battery went dead the other day and had a friend jump me. The truck started up and I let it run for a bit, then shut it down. When I went to go start it again, it not only wouldn't start, but there is a complete loss of power in the cab - no buzz, no clicks, no lights, no radio (in fact someone installed an aftermarket volt meter in the cab which is registering 0 volts). This has happened before and I had to replace the starter. That worked for a long time until now. Thinking I had a short (and that I had shorted out my starter again) I went to have it tested. The starter is good and I put a volt meter on my battery and got 12v (it is a new battery).

So my question to you folks is, if the battery is good and the starter is good, what would cause the power loss? If it is a fuse do you know which one it might be? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Zach

Have you double checked your battery ground connection?

Yes, the cables are securely attached to the battery and the ground to the frame is clearly visible (and secure). I suppose I could run some sandpaper under the bolt to be sure. Any other ideas? I heard an old-timer say that it could be the "main fuse". Guess I'll go check the manual for that.

check your battery cables for any loose or worn rubber that protects the wire also check that all your cables are tight not just the battery cables if thats no it check you fuses under the hood and in the cab mainly your ignition fuse
