Noobie - First Post - and A/C Issue

Hey everyone! I'm th enewest member of the forum, and wanted to introduce myself to everyone, as well as hopefully get some advice about an issue that I'm having.

I have an '04 GMC Sierra 2500HD, and its a great truck - I LOVE IT! Last year I installed a NAV system out of a Yukon, along with a 6 disc changer - thats the best upgrade ever!

I'm having an issue with my A/C that I'm not sure what to do with. I like to work on my truck myself as much as possible, but I know next to nothing about the AC ssytem (I guess nows as good a time as any to learn )

I turned on my A/C today, and its blowing hot air - very hot air. Its an auto climate control, and even though I have it set to the lowest possible temp, its blowing air hotter than I've ever had it blow before. The compressor still kicks on (I heard/felt it) but no cooling at all.

Does anyone have any ideas, or suggestions - things I might be able to try before I take it in to get raped by the dealer?

I looked through all of the posts for anything about this issue, but didnt come up with anything.

Thanks!

You think a dealer will rape ya huh?..oh well..

Does it blow heat out of BOTH sides,or just 1?

Sounds like the same problem I had on my '03 2500HD. It is the cycling switch. I had mine done at the dealer since my truck was still under warranty. Hope that helps you out!

Argon - it does blow heat out of boths sides

RCKINGS - what is the cycling switch, and is it something that I can replace, or does it need to go to the dealer to be done?

Thanks!

Its not the cycling switch if the compressor comes on.
The temp actuators are out of range...try disconnecting the battery a few minutes...then fire it up,and toggle the temp settings from 90 to 60 a few times

Thanks Argon - I'll give that a shot.

I actually had an issue with the battery a couple of days ago - one of the cables had come loose and everything dies when I turned it over.

I tightened up the cable, and everything went back to normal, but I hadnt used the A/C since then.

I 'll keep you posted.

Thanks!
