OEM Hitch failure

I've got a factory hitch on my '08 Sierra 1500, and I towed a U-haul trailer with another 1500 on on the trailer (a no-no) from New Mexico to Georgia (about 1700 miles) not a singe issue with the hitch or the truck.

My cousin did experience broken welds on the receiver (factory hitch) on his 3/4 2500 Silverado. 30' travel trailer with antisway bars. He removed it and bought a Reese.
