Default Oil pressure

Hello,
This my first truck with an oil pressure gauge. Is it normal that when I step on the gas and the rpms get about 4k the oil pressure is almost at 80? 80 is the max on my gauge, I just don't want to blow anything.

Thanks,
Tom

Thats pretty normal. As long as your oil dipstick doesn't blow out the tube then your fine.

80psi ? I don't nessassary agree that would be normal. 40 - 50 psi I think is more in range. sounds like a weak sender, or faulting gauge. I'd have a diagnostic reader validate it and go from there. I like the part about the dip stick though.
