P1441 Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge (GM)
 

Hello, I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4.

Every 300 kilometres or so I get a Check Engine Light and the code is P1441, P1441(pd). I looked it up and it reads Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge (GM) .

I have tightened the Gas cap numerous times and it seems this code comes back every time. Has anyone encountered this same code/problem? I am just wondering if perhaps I have a crack in one of my fuel lines.

These trucks have had problems with the purge valve. There is a different set up that is sold for bout $175 to fix this problem for good. The stealership has it. It relocates the canister and adds a new purge valve. Also when you fill up, dont keep topping it off to add more fuel to the tank. That keeps putting pressure to the purge valve and thats what makes it go bad. Just a thought.

i took it to my mechanic, he ran a solonoid test and smoked the fuel system, no leaks, and solonoid works fine. The computer said to check canister, perhaps it is clogged or bad.
