Part ID Help
 

I just purchased a 2002 2WD Silverado shortbox with a 4.3. When changing the oil I noticed a severely rotted frame support and I am trying to ID the part and part # so I can replace it. It is a bolt on piece, about 2.5' long and there are two of them. The are round with pinched ends where the bolt-on to the bottom of the frame. The make an open "V" shape and I believe (from memory) that they bolt from the frame rails to the tranny crossmember.

The are fairly skinny and round with pinched ends where they bolt to the frame/cross member.

Anyone know the name for these and what the part # is?

I tried to find an image of what your talking about, but couldn't see anything that resembled your description. I would imagine it is a dealer item, so I would just take it there and have the parts guy look it up for you. If it is too expensive then at least you will know what to ask for at the junk yards.

they are those crossmembers towards the front of the frame that bolt on by 2 15mm bolts. they prob just have some surface rust on them, i doubt they are rusted through. if you want the rust look gone, take them off sand them and paint them. they are not vital to the truck running. i would not loose sleep over it.
