passenger window

How do you fix a passenger window that won't go up on a 2000 GMC Sierra truck?

First make sure that it isn't the switch that has gone bad by checking the power going into and coming out of it. If you are getting power out of the switch to the motor then you are going to need a window motor & regulator. GM has actually made them fairly easy to change on these trucks. I would go buy the new one first and lay it out so you can see which bolts need to be removed. It is just about every 10MM bolt going through the door skin. There are 2 pinch bolts that hold the regulator to the glass. You want to loosen the 2 pinch bolts first and slide the glass into the up position. Get some masking tape and tape the window up so it won't slide down. Just run the tape up one side and over the top of the door and down the other side. I would run about 4 or 5 of these to make sure the glass doesn't fall down. Then take out all the regulator mounting bolts and the regulator will slide out. Don't forget to unplug the harness going to the motor. After that it is a straight forward swap. Once the new one is bolted in place untape the window and slide it down into the 2 pinch bolts and tighten them (not too tight just snug). Plug it back in and test it out. Good luck!
