Default passlock

Does anyone know how to completely disable the pass lock system on a 98 k1500 chevy?

I had to bypass it in my dad's truck and I can't remember the color of the wire, but it is in the steering column. You have to remove the clam shell that goes around the column and with the key on clip the wire. The key has to be on or it will not restart. There were (I think) 4 wires going to the unit and only one needed to be cut. Then the "Security" light will stay illuminated. I just pulled the cluster and removed the bulb for it.

Default passlock bypass

Hello everyone. I was having the same problem on my vehicle. After doing the key restart for several months it finally got to where it would never start.

The dealer wanted to charge me $1000 just for the parts to fix it and to be honest I would rather set it on fire then give them another dime.

I found that you can do the wire cut mehtod but this will only provide you a temporary fix. Eventually the other parts of the system will fail and you will be back to square one.

I got lucky because I found this site (deleted) They sell a bypass that takes passlock out of the equation forever. No more failing parts. They also sell a manual that will instruct you to build your own bypass if you are handy like that. I wasn't. They really saved me because there is no way I could afford the new parts.

Cutting the wire does the same thing, there is nothing else to fail. I think you are trying to sell a module on here with free advertisment so I am deleting the link. Nice try though.

This still does not help , does anyone know what color the wire is that needs to be cut on a 98 chevy truck pass-lock system? It is getting tiring having to go through the 1/2 hr reset after about every 30-40 start.
