PCM B fuse keeps blowing
 

A friends 03 yukon stopped running the other day. We narrowed in down to the 20amp PCM B fuse. When fuse is replaced the engine starts and the ABS light on dash stays on. We would only let engine run for a few seconds because we dont want to hurt anything else. After turning off engine the fuse would be blown on need replacing. Anyone have this problem? Any help would be great.

PCM B fuse is power for PCM and fuel pump. Fuel pump is most likely the fault.

I triple checked the fuses and the relays. Before I changed the fuel pump I checked the fuel pressure on old pump. It was fine. It just sounded real loud.
NOW the new fuel pump wont even turn on. It dosnt make a sound. It was a new pump from autozone. I dont undestand how the old pump can work and the 30 minutes later the new one dosnt work. I double check the new wires I installed on new pump. The battery is brand new. The grounds that I could locate were all tight. WTF.

It is very possible that you could have either nicked or pulled a wire loose when you dropped or reinstalled the tank. I have done a couple and although I have been lucky on them I always had that thought in my mind when trying to start it for the first time. It is very close quarters down there. Chevy should have an access panel like a lot of the import SUV's!

or you could have a defected pump I would use acdelco fuel pumps

Well, after dropping the tank for the fouth time, I returned the "BRAND NEW" pump to autozone. Lucky me to get a defected pump right out of the box. They replaced it and what do you know? The Yukon started right up. No more fuse popping and everything seems back to normal so far. Still have to check how much pressure its putting out but I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks for the pointers.
