PCM retune versus chips and selectable tuners
 

I'm looking at the PCMforless deal on having my truck retuned, but I don't know that I like how permanent it is. It seems like all I can do is pick one thing like milage over extra torque and power. Are there any good chips or home program kits with different stage set points. One of my friends has a Dodge 2500 Cummins and has it chipped and he has a display in the cab that allows you to select from 5 different stages starting at absolute economy and no power all the way to outrunning a camaro off the line with 800lbs of saccrete in the back. Can you get those kind of options of a chip on a gas motor?

as for sheer power on a gasoline motor..well no you cant get that kind of power out of a lug and play tune...however to answer your question, the best Tune you can get is a Dyno tune, there is nothing better that tuning and seeing the results on the dyno, and doing all adjustments there.

and as for getting PCM4LESS they are a GREAT company, they did wonders on my friends 97 Z28!

PCMforless or PCMperformance.com are both great tuners. I picked the later after doing much research on the impala ss national forum.
And after a few emails with Alex of PCMperformance.com I ordered a pcm programed the way I wanted and it allowed me the choice of stock or tuned. Inspection day got the stock pcm and the other 364 days got the tuned pcm. I had a hypertech tuner years ago and barely noticed anything for $300. For half that I got power and performance I could feel and it did not break the bank.

Superddd, the tunes that you get from PCM4less and such are not permanent. When I bought my Superchip Flashpaq tuner, I could not install my performance tune at first because the PCM was not set to stock. I went to my local GM dealership and had them reflash the PCM to stock and it worked just fine. It cost me about 80 dollars to get it done and that was mostly labor. Therefore, if for some odd reason you wanted to go back to a stock PCM it can be done.
