Question here.
My truck has always felt like it was pulling me when I floored it instead of pushing me if that makes sense. The pulling feeling is like the truck is dragging, as opposed to the feeling that I am being pushed with the power. I used to have a nissan 240 and it always felt like it was pushing. For example when you floored it you took off like there was no resistance, but my truck feels like I am pulling a trailer when I floor it. Is there a way to change that feeling? I would think it is a power to weight ratio issue and power may be the solution, I just want another view of it. Also what would be the power needed if that is the issue?

Well smoke i tell you what...you hit the nail on the head with that statement. It is pulling you almost. the thing about trucks are this, they are should i say a brute power usually, instead of being fast, with good power, we are slow with good power...the reason being trucks are heavier, and are made to Pull/Haul things around. I know the feeling, just ask SC_CHEVY_LOVER...me and a friend built an 11 sec Fox Body, and when i get in my truck, i am just lost. now the thing i have been planning, and i am prolly gonna do pretty soon, is just say to hell with my warranty and do a head and cam swap....sounds stupid i kow, especially after the trouble i have had with my drivetrain...but it is something i wanna do. i want the push of some muscle, and yet the power to yank a house off its foundation ya know. i see all these minor upgrades and bolt ons as helpfull such as cat back, CAI, programming, Underdrive pulleys etc.etc.etc.... but i want the full skill of it all. anyways went WAY off topic for you there, but thats the way i see it, we'll probably never be really FAST...but we can have power, and some go with heads and cam...so i just might.

Hey, Smoke, what kind of times are you running? A friend of mine said after he put a 2,800 stall in his truck, it really came alive and it was the best mod he ever made.... Just a thought.

Smoke, you certainly hit the nail right on the head with this one. I feel the exact same thing in my truck. As you BigTexasChevy stated, it is a power to weight ratio issue! I wish they designed the stock engines to have more low end hp and torque, but what can you do? I suppose we can put a supercharger or a STS turbo and would be happy, but I personally rather spend my money beefing up a muslce car than my truck. It is funny you mentioned your Nissan, because I too know how you feel in that aspect. I used to have a 92 IROC Z-28 with a 350ci. My father and I bored it over .30 to a 383 of course, and put too many additional mods onto mention. Anyway, I was running mid 12's and it felt like the car drove you, not you driving the car. Hence, the car waspushing me and not pulling like my truck. Smoke, you need to do what BigTexasChevy did and buy a S-10 for about 700$ and then throw a big block in it. Nothing like running 10's in a truck! Well Smoke, I "really" appreciate you writing this post, because now I'm depressed and I'm probably going to spend more money to provide more horsepower and torque. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY!!

Popo, I couldn't agree more!! I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me get a STS Turbo kit, but all that are married know how that is. I believe smoke is trying to talk his wife into getting also.

Hey guys can you describe the STS turbo kit a little more and what it does. Maybe a web site that shows them and the cost and all that. What else you would have to do to your truck and if it hurts it any. Thanks dont know much about aftermarket stuff but love chevys and going fast and kicking all the rices burners ***

ststurbo.com and the sts turbo kit is just a very efficient rear mount turbo system that performs well on most anything! i love it and you should check out their videos!
