plastic lug nut covers
I have a 1999 silverado 2500 H D and can not get the plastic lug nut covers to screw on tight. Have had this issue since the first time the wheels came off and were put back on. The dealership has sold me new ones, and even installed them only to have them come loose again. Can anyone help me here? Thanks Jeff

my guess is that the threads have been stripped on the PLASTIC nuts. i have the same junk on my 2007. you or whoever tightens the nuts has to be VERY careful an only tighten them hand tight. i have seen some nitwits put them on with an air wrench like the lug nuts, cant do it like that, thats why the threads strip an will not stay tight. GM must sell these things by the truck load.

lug nut covers
Thanks rocky, but since I wrote this I found out that I have the wrong covers. The numbers on the caps are for a different wheel. Guess I'm out of luck. Thanks Chevy for putting on the wrong parts at the factory!

if thats the case then i would go back to the dealership an see if they can give you the right caps. then i would look for another dealership. all dealerships are not high rated

maybe put some teflon tape on the threads first- just like on plumbing fittings
