Plugs, Wires & Coil Packs

I need to replace my plugsand wires on my '01 Silverado 1500 5.3L. Any recommendation on plugs and wires? I was thinking MSD wires with Denso Iridium plugs, although I don't know much about the Denso's. Are they any good?

This may be a stupid question, but how often do the coil packs need to be replaced? Do they ever need to be replaced if I'm not having any problems?I have120K on the truck and the coil packs are the factory originals. If I replace the coil packs do I go with OEM replacement, or spend the $750 for the MDS's? Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm running ac delco wires and ngk platinum plugs and willgo with the same combination next time. If you still have the original plugs in after 120k miles I would put some penetrating oil on them and let it soak in for a while otherwise you will probably break off some plugs after being in there for that long. I replaced mine after 50k miles and they were rusting in pretty good. Not sure about the coil packs sorry.

No, they haven't been in for 120k miles. I changed the plugs and wires at about 60k, but havent touched them since. I suppose it's time. And, my gas milage sucks, so I'm hoping new plugs may help a little. I'm getting 11-12 mpg average. The best I can do is about 14.3 and thats on a 190 mile drive across the turnpike with the cruise set between 70 and 75 for as much of it as possible.

I wouldn't touch the coil packs until one of them went bad. You could replace them at 150K, that would make sense but its not like they go bad at a specific mileage.
