Possible Newb/01 silverado 2500hd question
 

Sorry I skipped the Newbie section, Only because I may purchase a 2001 silverado 2500hd crewcab LB 2WD 8.1L auto trans.

Can anyone tell me what kind of fuel MPG it gets? Not that I care its only going to be uses to haul the ATV's.

also how reliable is it, I was told it had an Allison Tranny? Whats the difference?

The one I used to have got around 12 MPG. It pulled like a beast and with no trailer behind it was one of the fastest trucks I have ever owned. I sold it to a guy that kept bugging me to buy it and he got me at the right time one day (fell in love with a Harley on eBay). They are awesome trucks and the Allison is probably the best transmission made IMO. I wish I never sold it! Good luck!

I am Pretty impressed with it.
I think it has a 34 GAL. fuel tank it should get a 400 mile trip in before filling up again.

I must agree with Shamrock....the allison tranny is bad ass

Thats a good engine/tranny combo for towing.
