Power seats not working

I bought a 2001 Silverado. I did not try the power seats because they felt right. Well when I did they did not work. I checked the fuse and it was ok. There is an aluminum relay or circut breaker that I have not had tested.

I know that GM wires a lot of things through the radio and the previous owner had a aftermarket cd player installed. My question is could the problem be the radio not being wired correctly?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Adam

No, especially not on an '01. It is, most likely, the relay. Is it just the driver's seat, or both?

Both seats are not working.

Definitely check the relay. Additionally, double check all the wiring under the seat to ensure everything is connected. Also check for any chaffing or breaks in the wiring and trace the wiring from the fuse block to the relay. Someone may have cut a wire they weren't supposed to. Do you know where the tuck came from? You can also go to your local dealer and have the service advisor check to see if any warranty repairs (only 'warranty' repairs and recalls will show up on GM VIS) were ever performed that may be related to your problem. Did you have a CarFax run when you bought the truck? It may tell you if the truck had ever had a major repair (wreck-wise) that may have had an effect.

Is the seat even trying to move at all or is there no powere at all? Have you tried to hot wire it to teh electric motors? That would tell you if the motors are good or burned out. I only ask, because the front of my seat will go up and down, but the rear of my seat will not move. I got power and you can feel the seat try to go up and down, but it is acting like it is jamed. Any ideas as how to get it unjammed?

An attempt to fix that on your own may require removing the seat and putting it on a bench. If you have the ability/facility to do that, you may be able to determine if it is in-fact jammed, and release it. Power source required, obviously. Use TLC! Good Luck!
