Power Steering Problem

I have a 77 K10 which recently started to suffer from a total lack of power steering. At first I thought it was gonna need a new pump or something pricey, but i noticed that the belt on the pump was just loose. I can't figure out how to tighten it though because there is a missing bracket to hold the pump. (If you're in front of the truck, looking into the engine at the P/S pump, its the bracket that holds the right side on.) The missing bracket is surely due to the new 383 stroker engine and after market headers on it and not having a place to put it. But I loosened the bolt on the other bracket to try to pull the pump up and tighten the belt but can't. A)I can't pull it by hand as hard as it needs to go. B) The missing bracket is the only thing to secure a pry-bar to to lift the pump. And C) without that bracket, the pump isn't perfectly straight. It only has 2 points of contact to the truck instead of 3 like it needs so pulling it up just pulls it crooked.

Please give me some tips/advice on how to rig it so that it will work, or what the part name is for the missing bracket so i can find a new one!!

Thanks.

RE: Power Steering Problem

You will most likely need to fabricate somekind of new bracket. Make it strong and out of the way of everything. Also do not attach it to the frame the motor moves seperately than the frame, just so that you know.
