Power window problem

The other day i went to roll my window down and nothing. Then after i shut it off for awhile it worked again. So sometimes it wont roll down and sometimes it will. It is the driver side window only the passenger rolls down all the time no problems. I was thinking the left circuit breaker could be bad, Ideas?

I've been having the same trouble, til the window has finally quit working at all. I tried a new switch - no luck. My truck is a crew cab, and both rear doors, and the passenger side, work fine. Only the driver's door giving me fits.

I pulled the door panel off yesterday, but really didn't know what to look for.

Can we run a hot wire to the motor to see if it is working?

With your door panel off hit the switch for that window and check to see if you are getting a 12V signal to the motor. If you are then the motor is bad. Window motors can sometimes start making a bad contact inside the motor. I have seen where if you tap it while holding the switch to roll down (or up if the window is already down) it will start working. This is definitely a temporary fix though and it will probably quit on you again on a rainy day when the window is down. So fix it while you got it apart. If you think it is the breaker swap it with a known good one and see if that fixes it.

I've replaced the switch on mine - no change.

I'm getting continuity between the plug at the motor and the plug at the switch on both wires.

I'm NOT getting fire at the motor plug when I press the switch.

Could a relay be my problem? If so, where is this relay?

Mitch
