Problem
My wife is having a problem with her 02 1500 (Z71 4WD). After the 100,000 mile service, she complained that the tranny was not shifting as it should, (shifting to the higher gears) thus causing the engine to work extremely hard. I've switched her vehicles for the last couple of days and driven it to work. To me the tranny appears to be shifting fine, but there is definitely has "hum" and vibration that can be felt in the steering wheel when driving. The strange thing is, that when turning right, it goes away, but when going straight its very noticable, and even more so when turning left. No CEL, but an gonna throw the OBDII on today and see if I can get any codes. Any one have any ideas? She has an appointment Monday at the dealers but thought I'd check here b4 we took it in.
Thanks... BTW, great forum with lots of info. JB |
RE: Problem
sounds like a front hub...an airplane "buzz?"

RE: Problem
yeah my dad's truck did something similar when his front right hub bearing started going bad. But it went away whenever you turned the steering wheel either way.

RE: Problem
Thanks for the guidance. Was a hub bearing (left) and also had a leak in the right axle seal. All good now ($1200 later). Guess I need to get a manual for this thing.
