Question for my 2500 HD

Hello all, I'm new to this deal and I have a couple questions about an '06 Chevy 2500 HD I just picked up recently for my construction business.
It has a 6.0 V-8 engine, crew cab, long bed and it seems to be reving too high on the highway. ie: when i travel at 70-75mph, I am getting about 2,500 rpm. Is that too high? Shouldn't it be more like 2100 - 2200, since larger engines rev lower? I am not in tow mode either. Could I be stuck in a lower gear when I reach a higher speed? Perhaps I am just not used to it since I am coming from a V-6 chevy. Also, my turning radius is horrible. Or does that just come with the territory of a large truck? Any input can help here guys.

Do you know what gearing you have? I think that is about right if you have 4:10 Gears. Someone will have to back me up on this, but I'm pretty sure you just have a really low-geared truck

Yeah sounds like that truck is geared up for towing.

Theres a pretty good chance you have 4:10 gears. Make sure when you accelerate from a stop that you hear/feel 3 distinct shifts but I bet you do. Look up the rear diff code on the build sticker if you can find it. Or jack up the rear of the truck, chalk a line on the driveshaft and one on a tire, both wheels off the ground. Now hand rotate the driveshaft, count the rotations of the shaft and the tire. I'm guessing you will see 4 turns on the shaft equals almost one on the tire. That would be 4:10's

Now the bad news. 2500HD crewcab longbed. Turning radius? About a basketball court. The 6.0 with 4:10's in that truck is going to get 10mpg or so. Great truck and if you need it for business that is great but there are negatives....

Thanks

Thanks for the input fellas. Sounds like you know your stuff. Definitely very usefull truck for work since I tow a trailer, however I am not towing it every single day and I do mainly city driving. Got a great deal on the purchase price and just couldn't pass it up. Any other words of advice you may have?
