Quick question 4.8L VS 5.3L
I have the K&N FIPK CAI on my '03 Silverado. My silverado has the 4.8L. Will that fit an '02 5.3L does anyone know? Thanx, Jim

|
Should be the same, even for the 6.0's.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I thought so myself too and maybe they will fit but why would they have 2 different p/n's? I'll check into it some more.

Well some advertisement is like that, especially online catalogs.

Got the K&N on my wifes (Soon to be mine) '02 Avalanche with the 5.3L. Was able to bolt her stock air breather & intake tube back onto my '03 Silverado. Next in line is dual exhaust , catback system on the avalanche (1 in 2 out) with possibly Flowmaster 44's. My Silverado had 50 series on it, and sounded good but i'm thinking 44's on the 5.3L Avalanche, what do you guys think? I wanna be able to still get it inspected, will the 44's be too loud for inspection? I'm thinking probably not. This won't be getting done probably for another year or so. The reason i'm switching the the Av is i'm letting my Silverado go back (Trying to downsize our financial situation). Payment on the Silverado is $440 a month, its a long story but i think this is the right decision, and i wanted a 4 door truck and the 5.3L, so with the Av, i'll have both.

I have an '09 Silverado 5.3L with the K&N CAI. I have the Flowmaster 40 SIDO muffler. There is a little resonance, but I like it. The sound is very "throaty" when idling and howls a bit when I get on it. I'm sure it'll pass any inspection. But, just in case, ask the exhaust installer to put that it will pass in writing or they'll make it right, then you're good. :) Here's a youtube link to my truck's new exhaust:

THe CAI will fit either motor. Letting the truck go and going to the Avalanche? Going ot get worse gass mileage. I know that for fact. Just my opinion though.
