Default Radio for 2004 Silverado

I would like to replace the radio in my son's 2004 Silverado for his birthday. Even local stations are full of static, so I don't know if thats the radio, antenna, or both.

I was going to give him a budget so he could pick out the one he wants. How much would something like this cost? It doesn't have to be top quality... I think his only request is that he can plug his ipod into it. Is there anything special about Silverados that limit which kinds of radios we can choose from?

The website for the local audio store doesn't give much info on what they offer, so I don't know if I need to go there or a generic place like Best Buy. I would like to have them install it.

Thanks for any advice!
Rob

crutchfield.com is a great website to outfit your vehicle as for info for what will fit and what you need. Installation is very easy!

I would personally choose a quality name such as Pioneer. I run a Pioneer with the auxiliary port for the Ipod and its Sirius/XM ready so I have the adaptor hooked up and the sattelite radio on 99% of the time. installation is very very simple with the right adaptors and mounting kit. How about some pictures after the install? Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! Here is the one I've been looking at:

Thats pretty good! I went and got this one and it sounds really great for a simple unit. It also comes with a mic to use the Iphone while driving and playing music handsfree! It has crossover filters to keep from blowing those door speakers.
