Let me know if it is bunk (bad). My brother has one out of an 02 extreme that was identical to my trucks factory radio so Im sure it will fit yours.

...but I have no idea why it would do that.

I tried to put a radio from a 2005 Saturn in a 2003 Saturn and it said the same thing we had to take it to a dealer and they did something like reset it or something. Some kind of anti-theft devise. Maybe you can call a dealer and ask them if that might be it..

Did it say ERR or THEFT? I thought it was supposed to say THEFT. I don't know, for sure either way. Yeah there is a code that you can get to clear it if its in theft mode.

if it says ERROR,try disconnecting the battery...a mechanical problem occured, like the cd loader jammed.

is the cd going all the way in and can you hear the laser trying to work? i had the same problem with one of my aftermarket head units, all i did was take it apart and clean it. after that it worked perfectly. hell my playstion 2 was doing the same thing and not reading anything and all it needed was a cleaned laser. thats usually the problem when you can hear the laser moving around but not reading.
