Ram Air verse cowl induction both functional

Im looking at either getting a Ram Air or cowl induction hood for my 99 gmc sierra 1500. Most websites however barely tell whether they are functional or if they even have ports to let out water so I wont flood my engine. Anyone know if its even feasible to want one and if so, any good websites or brands?

What are you goin for friend? For performance or looks?

Both to be honest, the extra air should help a little bit with both performance and gas mileage and either ram air or cowl will look better than stock. A lot of people are just telling me theres a lot of other things to worry about, like water getting into my engine and dirt but they're friends and its just based on things they've heard as well, none of them have either hood. But more than anything I'd say performance, that's why I want it functional not just one with closed off scoops.

i dont know where u can get em but i saw a nasty lookin hood on ebay, it was a foced induction but it came with covers to cover the holes they slid in from the back side... that would be ideal i would bet... its not on ebay anymore tho... i have heard about people getting water on their engine and stuff and causing rough running issues but if u have good electrical than i wouldnt imagine it would be a prob.... if u do get one let me know how u like it i really want a cowl hood just pretty much for looks...

Yeah I wouldnt worry 2 much about the water issue unless you live where it floods a lot. But I know for a fact it will help underhood engine temps. Finding a functional ram air hood could cost quite a bit. But I say go for it!
