rednek ram air and stock gears are what or where to find them

so i hear about everybody doing a redneck ram air? what does this consist of? and how do you do it? and pics? specs?

and my other question is whats the stock gear in a 98 k1500 rear end z71 package? or where to find it? 3 73? or 3 42?

thanks Brad

The redneck ram air is at the top of teh page under the "Silverado/Sierra FAQs", just look for the Ultimate Free horse power free mods". It also contains other free mods if your vehicle has the same motor and such. As faras the gearing... you could take your vin to a dealership and they could tell you or possibly someone else will chime in and give you an idea.

Look in the glove box for a sticker that has codes for everything on that vehicle. Look online for your year model to find out which one is your gear ratio.

so does the ram air do that much? or have you noticed anything different? mpg torque?

As far as the gears look in your glovebox there is a white sticker with a bunch of codes look for the "G" codes and compare them to this chart...

Rear Axle Ratio
GQ1 -- AXLE REAR, STD RATIO
GT4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO
GT5 -- AXLE REAR, 4.10 RATIO
GU4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
GU5 -- AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
GU6 -- AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
G80 -- AXLE REAR, LIMITED SLIP (POSITRACTION)
HC4 -- AXLE REAR, 4.56 RATIO
