Removing aftermarket chrome rocker panels?

I just purchased a used sierra and would like to remove the 6 inch aftermarket chrome rocker panels. Does anyone know how these are adhered to the vehicle? Is it just on there with double sided tape? How do you remove the adhesive without ruining the finish on the truck? Thanks in advance.

yes theyre attached with double sided tape. if you did it carefully you might be able to get it off with a razorblade perfectly otherwise youll have to spend some time getting the rest of the tape off. i dont suggest removing them as there is a decent chance of messing up the paint.

Those stupid looking things are usually attached with double sided tape, have fun taking them off, you'll most likely need to repaint.

what up man. it might seem a little too late and don't know if you have removed them already. my bro has a '97. he had the rocker panels on them, the stock. pretty sure the aftermarkets are the same and have the double sided tape. don't do a razor blade. yank them off and get those industrial heat guns. once the glue of the tape start melting, use a plastic spatula to remove it. the spatulas that are used to apply bondo or the ones used to get the bubbles out of tints. you can use some regular gas to help remove the adhesive. they sale adhesive remover at auto part stores. it shouldn't mess up your paint. once off just give your truck agood wash and wax. no repainting is needed. since we experienced the same situation. fyi: we have 3 sierras in our household. '97, '03, and just added Jan. an '07. -peace
