Replacing Gears
 

i have a 07 classic 2500hd with a 6.0 and 4.10 gears, 4x4. i do not pull anything anymore and want to put in 3.42 gears. does anyone have any expeirence on this as to how much gas i will save by doing this. the price is 1600 for doing the complete job. thanks.

$1600 for front and rear? You might double check cause it's usually about that much for one end. Both ends is usually something like $3,000. And you have to do both if you do one.

I bet you can find some one that will trade. I know it was the first thing that crossed my mind! I got 3:73s but mine have some miles on them its a 2000.

I got quoted $1500 to $1600 to do front and back on my 05 from 3:42 to 4:10

If you do swap them you might be able to sell your old ones to make some of your money back.

2500hd has a different rear end he can't trade with a 1500 can he?
