Replacing Rear Bumper Step Molding--Black Plastic
 

I thought this would be so easy. It's supposed to just snap in but with a few little plastic bolt fittings for extra security. With my hitch in the way I can't access those little plastic nut and bolt set ups. There are six of them. Sheesh do I really need to remove my hitch for his little exercise? Loosen the bumper up instead. Sure seems protracted! And by the way, how to I dare take that hitch off--it appears I won't be able to access the bolt heads to retighten it up.

Just in case someone else does this, here's the answer: The hitch must be removed, and on a Chevy Suburban, '94, the two rear hitch bolts on each side are fastened to a plate inside the box frame so that the nuts can be tightened after first being loosened.

Thanks for coming back to give us the update.. Without seeing it I wasn't able to contribute anything in the form of help, other then knowing the hitch was the last thing to go on the truck so it must be the first thing to come off to access those bolts. Glad it all worked out for you

I love tinkering with these trucks. I've got almost all the rattles silenced in my 20 year old Suburban. Why get anything new? I'm a bit annoyed that my new driver's door latch "twangs" when I shut the door, but maybe it's nothing critical. Seems like metal on metal, and I can't figure why the OE didn't do the same thing.
