Default road noise

My Silverado is a 4 wheel drive and I am just wondering that when I am only using the back wheel drive can I still have noise coming from the front diff? I am asking this because there seems to be a fair amount of grinding kinda noise. I had both front wheel bearings replaced about a year ago, cost lotsa money too. I am going to check them out again just to be sure I didnt get a defective one. Thank you.

could be either a sloppy axle shaft in the front or the differential itself... whats your mileage?
