Running Boards For Silverado Question?

I called a company today that sells the chrome/ss bars that you put on the truck to climb into it, and was quoted a price of $400.

Is there somewhere I can get these cheaper? I had a set on there before but they rusted out for some reason, and they came on the truck when I bought it used. When I took them off I left the place to bolt new ones too still on my truck so there shouldnt be much "installation" but Im not feeling $400!

I think Hunt4game has some for sale. You can check his post or PM him. Just look at the right side of the screen for the top ten posters and click his name. Or you could try Ebay but remember you get what you pay for. The cheaper ones have thinner wall pipe and a ****ty coating. So be carefull.

we got em from the dealer for 200 and just installed em ourselves. We had chrome ones on the 03 extended cab and put Black ones on the 06 Crew

$400 for the set and installed is not a bad price.
Andthe chromes will always rust on ya everytime. I would go with some black powder coated ones myself.
Here are some seach tips, they will almost always be called nerf bars or side steps.
www.autoanything.com
www.4wheelparts.com Prob the cheapest.

Just a couple web sites I use a lot to get you started.

I bought my black nerf bars for my '03 E/C new at a local speed shop for under $200.00, and installed them myself. Chrome LQQKs nice but will rust. I'm not into chrome much. A little bit goes a long ways. But i can tell ya one thing. The nerf bars do their job. About 3 weeks ago, me, my brother, neice and some friends went 4 wheelin, and one spot, there was some rocks. The short wheelbase vehicles (Jeep Wrangler, Hummer H3, Toyota PU) were fine, but my truck, when i went around the rocks, i dragged along the whole underneath of my driverside nerf bar, but i look at it like this, better the nerfbar than my rocker panels.

Yeah, thats exactly whyI want a set. Plus they look good. I like my chrome but on my white truck I think black is the way to go.

I have the pewter color and when it had the chrome tool box and the nerf bars it looked real good all it has now is the tool box.

I thought I had chrome bars, but I discovered they are really stainless steel. Try looking for stainless.
