Servo...
OKay, well I thought Iposted a thread on this subject, but I can not find it so here it goes:After all this time and of course my warranty being up. I finally purchased my Vette Servo. It took me a bit longer to install it since it was my 1st time. One question: When it shifts from 1st to 2nd it seems to have a weird shift to it. The only way I can describe it, is it almost seems to have a delay as it begins to shift... Begin to shift, pause a second then shifts to 2nd. Like it is between gears, but it does shift a bit harder and does seem to hold the gears a bit longer too. Anyhow, has anyone experienced this or have any thoughts on the situation? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Servo...
sounds like a double engagment........did you buy this servo new???? how about the fluid and filter did you change them both? how about "resetting" the computer?
|
RE: Servo...
Yeah I bought it new. I have not changed the fluid or filter, because it is nice, red and clean. How do you resett the computer?
|
RE: Servo...
If I understand you right it sounds like what mine dose. Dose it seam to rev a little between gears and then hit kind of hard?
To reset just unhook one of the battery cables for about a half hour. |
RE: Servo...
I do not recall it reving up between shifts before it hits. I just know there is a noticeable pause between 1st and 2nd... It shifts, then pauses a second with out reving up as I recall, then shifts again almost. Like chrisbmo2000said a double engagement oras I said hung up between gears.
I did notice that the surface of the main part of the cupped servo had a pretty good scratch on it. Could that cause a problem? |
RE: Servo...
was that scratch on it when you put it in??????? if not then something INSIDE the tranny put it there........but if it ws there before hand then yes it COULD affect the shift
|
RE: Servo...
Okay the scratch was from me and the neighbor putting the spring and metal circular du-hicky thingwith an o-ring back into the cupped part of the servo with a screwdriver. We did not scratch thesurface with the teflon seal. So anyhow to satisfy my curiousity and worries I went by a trany shop with my stock servo and explained the situation. H said the surface I scratched was not a sealing surface and would not hurt anything. Whew on that part. And after driving it today it does seems to be getting better. So I guess it is self adjustinglike the guys in the other forum had mention. So far I am liking it, but it does not shift as hard as I imagined, but maybe it will after a bit more adjusting and if not then I will experiment with my Hypertech for now until I can afford a Tune.
Anyhow I do appreciate the ideas and thoughts on the matter. If ya would keep the ideas coming and I will keep my eyes on the thread and the progress of the servo if it keeps getting better or worse. |
RE: Servo...
Last night my buddy and I installed the Vette Servo in his 2001 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3. Talk about night and day. His was a lot easier to instal... literally. The tranny hung down a bit further for moreroom to wiggle and the servo shaft slid in easier than mine did. And when it shifts... man does it have a hit. Now his truck is completely stock accept for his Redneck Ram Air with K&N filter, TB bypass, removed foam insulaters, and the dumped sinlge in 2 out 40 series Flowmaster. That and about a 130,000 plus miles on it. Is it possible his Vette Servo went in easier since it has so many more miles on it causing it to be loose like a working girl? And could that also cause it to shift thatmuch harder than mine? I am now really going to go back into mine and reinspect my install...
