sevrvice 4x4 light
 

Hey guys, i have a 2003 silverado 2500 HD and the 4x4 service light will pop up somtimes. The 4 wheel drive works fine.Goes into and out of 4 wheel just like it should but the light pops on. I can clear the light and it will stay off .The dash push button switch is lit up all the time.Heard that usually its the dash switch.What will make the light come on?Thanks in advance.

If you or someone you know can solder, you can pull the dash switch apart and resolder the connections. That usual fixes it. Good Luck!

thanks for your reply. i pulled the switch out a couple days ago and took it apart as far as i could to try this. i didnt really see any connections that were not on the circuit board itself and that looked pretty tricky to try. i know this is a common problem any other replies would be helpful.

I am trying to get a new dashboard switch for my truck, 1stchevyparts.com aka Chevrolet of Puyallup sent me a switch that screws into the transfer case. When I brought the error to their attention, they told me the screw-in switch is the updated version of the dashboard switch. and although it looks different, it will fit and function correctly. Well we all know that's bull****. So, question is, can anyone recommend a source for this part that doesn't entail paying full dealer retail?
