Default Shifting problems

I have an 2003 Silverado, 4.3L with the auto transmission. When I go to pass or just accelerate aggressively, it will shudder and make some loud popping noises from what sounds like the transmission, it feels like it is trying to stick in between gears(not sure if possible but it is how it feels) this seems to happen in the 2nd to 3rd gear shift range. I have a feeling it is the shift solenoid but I am not certain, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like something that should be throwing a check engine light. If yours is on you should be able to pull the codes to get a better idea of what's going on.

a simple thing to check, even though it's a long shot' is your engine grounds. Someone I know just went through a lot of time and money having a shop go over his Chevy that was having shifting problems only to have it be the grounding straps on his engine. Fixed those and it started shifting fine. Like I said, long shot but sometimes you get lucky and it's an easy fix.

Best bet is to have you OBD system scanned for any codes, that'll help you (and any of us) narrow it down.

I had a similar problem with my truck. Had to rebuild.
