Shocks
 

I need some shocks for my 03 Silverado 1500 2WD. I don't need anything fancy as this is just a work truck with no offroad use, but I would some shocks that give me good handling. I've been considering Monroe Sensa-Tracs from Sears. They also have the Rancho RS5000 shocks. Which are better for my truck? How about the Monroe Reflex? Any other suggestions? Who has the best price on shocks installed? I may put them on myself if I can get a big enough price break, but Sears is offering free installation.

I just put a set of Monroe's on my 1995 2500 last week. I got them at O'Reilly's for $21.99 each and put them on in about an hour. They ride very good and I don't think you can beat the price. I have used higher dollar shocks in the past and I guess I am just not that aggressive of a driver because I can't tell a difference from the $80 shocks vs. the $22 ones. JMHO

What shocks did you get for $22?

Yeah the only reason to look into higher dollar shocks is if you are planning some some off road use or maybe sporting it out and making the suspension tighter. So the regular replacement shocks will work great for ya.

I ordered some Monroe Sensa-Tracs. A little more expensive, but not bank breaking. Do the shocks come with new bolts, or am I going to need some?

The factory bolts will do fine. Let us know how much difference you feel from the new ones.

Big difference. It felt like I didn't have much control and had to take it easy going around curves. I'm sure they were the original shocks and the truck has over 80k on it. I'm not sure how many miles the originals were good for, but I'm sure it was nowhere near that.

you should try 226k on factory shocks... its pretty fun lol

Why would you want to when shocks are a fairly cheap item plus a safety item also?
