Silverado Conversion 5.3 to 6.0
 

Anyone tried to install a 6.0 instead of the 5.3 in a 02 Silverado? What problems if any? Will it work?

What are you looking to do? Did you consider a performance rebuild of the 5.3? You could probably meet or exceed a 6.0 power and torque by building up the 5.3. New pistons, cam, heads, bored out, intake, harder crank, etc. Then you could build up the transmission too to handel the power.

i remember seeing a magazine a while ago that had a regular cab 99-02 silverado with a 6.0 engine... ill try to find it to seeif it mentions how involved the swap was... i know he had to go to an hd hood

Ive seen guys on LS1 truck.com strip their engines till it was basically a long block then replace it with a brand new 6.0 long block which you then swap your accessories back onto it and have your pcm re-tuned for it. Im thinking about doing that myself with my 4.8, you would get much more help over there with this question. :)
