I recently purchased a 06 Silverado a few months back. I got a good deal on it but the only drawback was it was manual windows and locks. Opening and no power locks in a bigger pain than I thought. I have access to auto parts. I was wondering if anyone can tell me is it possible to just switch doors that are power already and locks or not. I know the wiring plug is probably different but a friend thought the plug for power windows might be tucked up into the A plr or something?? Anyone know if this is possible or is my only option convert what I have know which I assume would be a real pain the in a$$!

 

switching doors would be the "best" start to resolving your "issue" if you have access to parts then when you pull the doors on the "donor" then look and trace the harness back and see if it is easier to cut and splice or if you need to "make your own harness" really you will just have to "dig in" and see what you come up with

 

Man, Chris beat me to that idea. If you can switch doors then at least everything inside the door would be done.

I did a 99 truck and it wasn't that bad. I did not swap the doors, but all the components inside. That way I didn't have to worry about paint. I went to a salvage yard and bought 2 doors that were off a flipped over truck for $250 complete. They still had the door panels (which were in great shape and the same color I needed) and switches so that wasn't a bad deal. I also fished the harness from under the dash that had the power window wires. It also came with other wires taped with it so I laid it out and untaped the whole thing and removed the wires that were not needed. I swapped out all the components and found one of the regulators was bent from the accident. I was able to purchase one at the local auto parts store though. The wiring harness plugged right in to the distribution block. Just make sure you put in a fuse or breaker in the empty spot in your fuse box or it won't have power. Taking my time this took me a weekend and was WELL worth it. I have since sold the truck, but I know the guy and everything is still working great. You really can't tell that it didn't come factory that way. I did spend some time getting the harness as far up in the dash as possible though. Good Luck!
