Solid Axle conversion

I recently found that i need to have about 1500 dollars worth of front end work done on my truck. I figured it would be cheaper to just swap in a solid axle instead. My question is what type of axle should I use for this.

RE: Solid Axle conversion

A dana 44 or shaved dana 60 would be great. They will hold up to anything you throw at them. May be costly though. Try looking at a junkyard for a 2500 or 3500 wrecked in the rear.
